IS IT PROPHECY, OR MERE MOTIVATIONAL SPEECH

Coming to think of it, the other day as I was back home from a fantastic weekend with my friends from ILIGHTTHEWORLD, I then thought to myself, is it prophecy, or just mere motivational speech. I was thinking this in line to how many can negate prophecy and just settle for mere motivational speech, all in the name of trying to be an encourager and not hurt anyone’s feelings. Settling is when you are satisfied within yourself and aren’t pursuing God for all that He has accomplished in us through Jesus Christ, which in this case is prophecy, a word from the Lord.

Prophecy

14 Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy. For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit. On the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation. The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church. Now I want you all to speak in tongues, but even more to prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be built up.  ( 1 Corinthians 14: 1 – 5, ESV)

To anyone who has given their lives to following after God, through Jesus Christ, this being an act of faith in all that God has done through Jesus’s resurrection from the dead, this one surely has a high regard for prophecy. But to the one who has not, then a mere motivational speech, in the name of it having been written in the Bible, just as the devil tried to trick Jesus into, can do.

I recently wrote a post on handling scripture, http://ilighttheworld.com/handling-scripture/,  something that God did minister to me. Many do read I Corinthians 13, about Love, and negate the verses before and after this chapter, 1 Corinthians 12 and 14, which do share on both spiritual gifts and offices which we ought to operate by in this new covenant which we are in.

As a believer, our greatest motivator, encouragement, consolation and upbuilding is and should be prophecy, which accomplishes in us a pursuit for God. Be blessed

Do check out my new book, GALATIANS – UNVEILING THE GOSPEL, http://ilighttheworld.com/galatians-unveiling-gospel-new-book-arnold-kedenge/, and be blessed by this. Feel free to also write and share with us as well. Thanks
